This piece, along with a lot of other terrific light music (including The Haunted Ballroom: Geoffrey Toye) can be found on a Hyperion CD CDA 66868: New London Orchestra/Ronald Corp.
Memory Lane….
Very memorable piece and when Dick Barton was replaced by the Archers I thought …….. it won’t be for long, Dick Barton will return …. but he never did. Loved the edition where a loony musician captured a symphony orchestra and forced them to play his dreadful music. Mind you the examples of the delightfully awful music they played to enhance the drama would probably be acclaimed as magnificently innovative today. Oh and please can we add Anthony Collins to the list of outstanding composers of light music
We can (Collins) and I did on July 26: http://www.colinscolumn.com/another-light-music-gem-anthony-collinss-vanity-fair-vernon-handley-the-bbc-concert-orchestra/ Colin
